John Waco, DDSmatch
Helping Dentists Transition in The Pacific Northwest

Years with DDSmatch

Years in the Industry

John Waco brings more than 33 years of dental industry experience to ddsmatch. From his start as a dental hygienist in the United States Air Force, Fairchild, WA, to his most recent role, Equipment/Technology Specialist, John has made a career out of helping dentists. As a ddsmatch professional, John represents doctors in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. He lives in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with his wife and they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. They also enjoy boating Lake Coeur d’Alene, Priest and Pend Oreille.

Q: What does DDSmatch do exactly?
JW: DDSmatch handles practice sales, practice mergers, dental partnership agreements, associate placements, and dental office appraisals. I am a real estate broker, so I can also assist with dental practice real estate sales in many cases. We also work with other business professionals and have an extensive team of attorneys, accountants, lenders, and appraisers to ensure the smoothest transition possible.

Q: What makes you and DDSmatch great at what you do?
JW: In addition to being in the “dental trenches”, with clinical “hands-on” knowledge, plus extensive sales and negotiation experience, I know the industry and landscape, as I have traveled the Northwest territory exclusively. DDSmatch has a clear and proven process for the most important and complicated decision in a dentist’s career. DDSmatch has a national presence that can tap into buyers, partners and associates across the country, and in my opinion, our team is comprised of some of the most impressive minds in dentistry.

Q: What motivates you?
JW: For me, motivation is knowing that I am helping dentists preserve their legacy! From experience, I know that the only way to serve your customers is to intentionally listen to their concerns and needs. DDSmatch’s only priority is to serve the dentist and that makes it easy to do my job.

“My wife Theresa and I recently sold our 37+ year, Spokane Valley Dental Practice.  We wanted to use a company with a local person, rather than one of the “usual remote firms!  DDSmatch filled ALL our expectations. We were inundated with corporate offers however we wanted to specifically find an “owner-operator” dentist to continue the legacy and many lifetime friendships I had created.

I personally had a lot of demands that were given to our broker, John Waco from our first meeting. He listened to everything I said, expected, and asked of him. We sold the practice to a husband wife team, from Alaska. These folks are genuine, family people and shared my philosophy of dentistry.

Our sale was easy and straightforward because John walked us through each step using “The Trusted Transition Process.”  DDSmatch has all the professional team players in place to complete the sale process. DDSmatch found and vetted the right buyers, allowing us to maximize the value of our practice, in the middle of a pandemic, which resulted in a 62% increase from my original expectations. When the sale was complete, we met our goal of all buyers and sellers being happy, transferring my practice legacy and being friends.

After 37 years, the decision to sell was not an easy one for me, however the job that John Waco did, eased myself of any burdens or hardships during our transaction. John was available, ready, and able, anytime of day or night we needed him. John did a great job, and I would personally recommend his services to anyone interested in a dental office transition.
